Has anyone had problems installing yahoo widgets engine?
I'm trying to install it, but each time I keep getting the message "yahoo suite installer has to close". I've tried downloading the software from download.com, widgets.yahoo.com, and www.filehippo.com. they all have the same file installer, and i've tried installing older versions, but still the same error message!

Make sure that you have your firewall set so that the installer can get the files it needs.
You might also want to run a spyware checker. This kind of thing happens when your computer has spyware on it and you try to install the Widget Engine.
If you still hve problems contact the Widget Support folks.

Certain Widgets such as ones that connect to iTunes and the picture frame do not need to connect to the internet to work, but in the end most widgets do connect to the internet. Plus without internet you would not be able to download new widgets on that computer and you would get a version checker error every time you start widgets.

Can't scroll down on Yahoo Widgets EULA?
I just tried installing Yahoo Widgets, but I'm stuck at the EULA. It says to click I Agree at the bottom, but I can't even scroll down the agreement to get there. It won't scroll using arrows or even on the scroll bar on the right. I uninstalled it, checked for spyware, installed it again but still the same problem.

Yahoo! Widgets are the only thing that decorate my desktops. My employer has no issue with me using them at work, in fact I am encouraged to do so.

Yahoo! Widgets are the only thing that decorate my desktops. My employer has no issue with me using them at work, in fact I am encouraged to do so.

Why can't my pc load my yahoo widgets???
I press get widget on the big buttons, it downloads, and then it doesn't run. I really need help with this. I would really apreciate it if anybody helped me! Everybody has widgets except me. Thanks a lot!!! ;)

Trying to downgrade from 4.5 version of Widgets for Windows?
This new version seems to bomb out Picture Frame 3.1.6 (puts the picture in odd places loses location on reboot) and it is really 99% of why I use Yahoo Widgets since I can't find a decent Sidebar (or whatever the built in to Vista thing is called) or Google version. Apparently the author is done as numerous posts about his version not working right with new Widget version go unanswered. So - can I get the 4.0 version still anywhere?

Just keep an eye on their resource usage in Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del).

Hey, is it possible to hide yahoo widgets and have them all appear when needed by moving the cursor to a corner of the screen (for example)? i like having them, but i dont like how theyre always on my desktop cluttering up the area and i dont like the hassle of closing them all and maunally opening them when i need them.

Whats a good program to custimize windows? Like widgets, logon screens, etc...?
I have the yahoo widgets thing, but they are kinda plain. I also tried Desktop X, but for some reason it doesnt work right. I download widgets, themes, menus, all that, and when I try to load them, nothing works. The only things that work are premade themes, when I load them, everything works, then I try to custimize it, but cant. I unload it, try my own theme idea, when I open the file(s), the theme I loaded previous loads back. So, is there anything else that has alot of stuff like Desktop X, but works?

I've tried a few. I love the clock, but I have had to uninstall some widgets because they seemed to be messing up my system.
Reply:I use the widgets all the time and I don't really have any problems. Currently my active ones are Turin 2006 Photos, Weather, Yahoo Mail notifier, Yahoo Search, Cat Clock and the NHL Schedule and standings.
The only problem that I've really experienced is when I start up the computer, or restart it, it takes awhile for them to load up. Secondly, if you don't save the widgets when you download them, you just open them, you loose them. You have to go back online and re-download those ones...pain in the ****.
But I love the service and I'm happy with it. I don't really have much to say about problems because it usually works very well. Hope this helps out.

Reply:I use the widgets all the time and I don't really have any problems. Currently my active ones are Turin 2006 Photos, Weather, Yahoo Mail notifier, Yahoo Search, Cat Clock and the NHL Schedule and standings.
The only problem that I've really experienced is when I start up the computer, or restart it, it takes awhile for them to load up. Secondly, if you don't save the widgets when you download them, you just open them, you loose them. You have to go back online and re-download those ones...pain in the ****.
But I love the service and I'm happy with it. I don't really have much to say about problems because it usually works very well. Hope this helps out.

Why won't Opera Widgets work with Opera Portable?
I'm going through a "phase" of using a lot of portable software. It's 100% legal, but I'm using Firefox and Opera Portable more than any other. My Firefox themes and add-ons all work when I move them to Firefox Portable, but I can not get ANY widgets working in Opera. Why not? All of my themes do.

Why doesn't one of the Yahoo Widgets work?
The "My Contacts" Widget from Yahoo, which I've had since Widgets came out, doesn't work anymore. When I start up the computer it shows on the screen but it's useless. I can't scroll to see any contacts, I cant click to change preferences or anything. I can only Ctrl Alt Del to close it down. When I do that, it always says it's "not responding" (which I already know. That's why I'm shutting it down.) Anybody know what's wrong and how I can fix it or keep it from even showing up at startup?

I started widgets before you at Yahoo bought it, and you indicated way back that a Linux version was in-progress, and it's been a few years. Widgets run javascript/xml which is totally compatible with Linux, you had to load std linux utils under windows to get it to work. What's the hold up! The question isn't does it, it's when.

What I mean is, I have my yahoo widgets set up, then Ill turn my pc off. Later when I turn it back on, only the "default: widgets launch, and I have to had pick the ones I want back on. Isn't it disappointing that Yahoo Widgets' Day Planner doesn't work properly?
I was excited about getting to try out Yahoo Widgets' Day Planner - in fact several months ago I had suggested to Yahoo (and Google!) via their feedback forms, that they develop a local desktop widget that would sync with Yahoo Calendar.
I am finding that Day Planner does not sync with Yahoo Calendar.
- Events are not pushed to Calendar.
- I expect it to download everything from Calendar so I dont have to be connected to the internet all the time. It does not do this.
- does not allow for alert times to be set unlike in Calendar.
Usually Yahoo's stuff is very good. It is disappointing that Yahoo has brought out something that does not work as expected.

Have you tried Widgets?
I got yahoo widgets a few months ago and they have some really useful stuff, i reckon it makes your desktop look pretty snazzy too. But not a lot of people seem to know what they are. Have you tried them? If so why not? If you have, what do you think?

Reply:Widgets (or mini-apps as some people know them) are actually becoming more popular by the day, now with Google and other corporations joining in on this cool technology. I actually think that widgets are a lot off fun.

Reply:My daughter lives in New Zealand, and I have a widget on my desktop with the time over there displayed, they are very handy

I have Vista and I am trying to get my Widgets to work. Everytime I start them, it crashes. Any ideas?

your computer isnt strong enough to handle the extra memory
try deleting anything that you dont need from your desktop, and if that doesnt work then idk
i would just forget about them and uninstall them, they are killing your computer
